Publication research for first pitch

Before I write my pitch, I am going to research publications that I think would be interested in the story. This will make the pitch easier to write if I know a bit more about my publication.

Because the story is based on Magic Majid publications based in Sheffield will definitely be interested in the piece. However, because he is quite a well-known figure, there may be larger ones who are interested in publishing the story too.

This is my research on a possible publication to pitch to:

Exposed Magazine

Exposed Magazine describes themself as ‘Sheffield & South Yorkshire’s ultimate entertainment guide and chat about all things local’.

It appeals mainly to younger readers and covers a range of topics from art and music to local politics and events.

Although it has an alternative and vibrant theme, many of the topics covered can be quite newsworthy and hard-hitting – however it is aimed at younger readers, explaining it’s appearance.

It is based in Sheffield in the city centre and while it is largely Sheffield-orientated, it also touches on Yorkshire and further issues in the UK.

In the time it has been in publication it has featured the Lord Mayor several times and is known for working with him directly on multiple occasions.

Previous articles on the Lord Mayor:

Partnerships with the Lord Mayor:

I have read through many of the articles online, and although it is particularly popular with younger readers in Sheffield, the tone of the articles isn’t necessarily ‘young’ or colloquial, and can be quite formal and serious when discussing important topics.
