Project To-do list

This post is going to be a to-do list for my project.

Now that I’ve finally decided what my project is going to be on, I am going to start work on it, start doing practise shots and start contacting people who could be potential sources.

THE MIGHTY TO DO LIST:

  • DO RESEARCH

Start researching the climbing scene in Sheffield, look up on the history and look into the Olympics bid, new climbing centre and notable climbers who live in Sheffield

  • START PRACTISING SHOTS

Go outside to a public place, practise candid shots and shots of strangers. Start to get confident shooting in this way and start to experiment with shutter speed and aperture etc. I want to start to think about constructing photos and what makes a good candid shot

  • START PRACTISE EDITS

Start editing in black and white, look at what shots return the best images when editing in black and white, and start to play with some of the practise shots in Photoshop and Lightroom

  • START CONTACTING PEOPLE

I want to start calling some climbing places in Sheffield and seeing what their policies are on shooting candid shots there, and also send some emails out to people who might be relevant sources in the piece

POSTS TO WRITE:

  • Research post on the climbing scene in Sheffield
  • Research post on climbing history – look at Olympics 2020 and new climbing centre opening in Sheffield
  • Research post on similar articles? Look at other sports or other hobbies and how other journalists have tackled the same sort of issue
  • Evidence post when I have started to contact people and started to gather up potential sources
  • Post showing my practise shots I get, choosing my favourites and reflecting on what is good and bad about them all
  • Post showing before and after images of the practise edits – look at black and white photography and how editing black and white photography is different to colour
  • Evidence of all the steps I’m taking, when I interview people, when I go out on a shoot etc.
  • Project progress posts if any change happens
