Indoor climbing gyms in Sheffield:
Could talk to managers or members of any of these gyms, especially the Climbing Depot that is new this month.
When it opened in 2006, the Works was the world’s biggest bouldering centre. Today, it has it all: good coffee, a great soundtrack, free improver classes, loads of surfaces, and even a mini wall reserved for children and newbies.

Indoor climbing walls in the UK can be dated back to the opening of The Foundry in 1991. The wall set the standards for hundreds of others across the country, and its varied surfaces and routes (including a kids’ circuit) mean it’s still well renowned amongst the most expert of climbers.

Sheffield is home to one of four Awesome Walls centres. Here, there’s opportunity to tackle over 300 routes at all grades, practice in two bouldering areas, and entertain kids in a special space-themed zone.

When talking about the Olympics, I could try and get in contact with someone from Climb2020 – an organisation in support of climbing being introduced at the Olympics.
QUESTIONS:
Why do you think Sheffield has such a good climbing scene in particular?
Why do you think climbing is such a popular sport for such a variety of people?
