Gathering primary source material evidence

This week I have started to gather my primary source material for my project. I have sent out emails, and called people and arranged meetings with them to speak to them about my project.

As I am basing my project around the increasing popularity of indoor climbing and climbing gyms, I have gathered up a list of potential sources in a separate post that you can read here.

This post however is evidence for my primary source material included in my piece so far.

Some of the people I am going to talk to will be ‘social’ climbers, and I will be interviewing them in a vox-pop style way and so I will be meeting them on the day and recording what they say when I meet them. When I do that, I will post evidence including the voice clips, transcripts and photos I take with each person.

For now, I have included evidence of correspondence with some of my other primary source material, for example industry experts and professional climbers.

Lucy Creamer – world champion climber

I contacted Lucy via email, and she responded earlier this week with some answers to my questions.

Hazel Findlay – world champion climber

I also contacted Hazel via email, as she is currently away on a climbing trip in Mongolia. Luckily, she had internet for long enough to answer a couple of my questions:

Alan James – Owner of UKClimbing.com

I contacted Alan James by calling the contact number on the UKClimbing website. I don’t have evidence for this however I will be sure to transcribe our conversation for a future post.

This is the primary source material I have gathered so far, however I plan to get more in the next few weeks. I will be posting more updates as I get this information.
